[...] "Man is evolving to slavery of old age; in this case, he has enslaved himself at the mercy of technology ...”
A common postcard of our age shows a family sitting at a table in a bar
or restaurant, where each member is connected to an electronic device and so
communicated as they could be if they were on different planets. At home, it is
also common that each member of the family is "connected" to your
screen and no interaction with the rest.
By far, there are many important aspects when a cell is owned. No doubt
its proven utility. The mobile cell phone has contributed to bridge the gap. By
having a mobile phone, we can quickly contact with any person and institution
we need, no matter how far you are and almost anywhere in the world where we
are.
Through cellular communication is possible not only through voice, but
also through writing, pictures or moving images. Sending text messages, for
example, is much cheaper than making calls and expanded, in turn, the potential
availability, as usually reach your target despite the coverage or other
limitations.
Get or find a person who owns a cell phone is much easier, as the user
of this service has 24 hours of coverage. Having a personal device, makes
direct communication is available as long as the user has the phone on and he
decides to receive calls. If this is not the case, there is also the option of
a virtual mailbox voice message you can listen late
Good communication has been also crucial for a successful business.
Cellular let you stay in touch with customers around the world. If you have a
phone meeting with someone in Europe, the time difference is no longer a big
problem when you have a cell phone. You can communicate them from home, after
hours of work, rather than from the office. If you travel internationally, you
can stay in touch, as you would be available in the same number and phone.
Since 2009, worldwide sales of smartphones have increased at an
unstoppable pace. It is estimated that in two years the worldwide sales shipped
from 494.5 million units in 2011 to 1004.2 million in 2013, means doubled the
sales. Moreover, if we take as a starting point in 2009 (173.5 million), growth
has been ... 576 percent!
This is the good side of things. Let see the other side.
While the revolution of cell has brought global communication with all
the advantages that implies, it should be noted that every day is increasing
the number of cases in which individuals gradually lose their ability to
communicate personally and interact with humans around him and have been
leading to a progressive isolation where they believe the only way to connect is
via phone.
It is also a truth that having so many choices of entertainment and communication
in one device, which is, also, portable, causes decreased levels of care for
people who use the point of disconnect from the environment at the time to
enjoy it. A common feel for mobile’s users comes up when they forget the cell
or for any other reason they do not carry a phone feeling themselves isolated,
unarmed and even "naked" then causing great expectation and anxiety.
Time moves on and the patterns of social behavior, as well. What for
some generations was an insult to decency, for the future age group is
indifference. The phubbing is a
disorder of technology that was becoming more fashionable, which is to ignore
the person with whom he is to pry into the cell. Phubbing scenes that have invaded alarmingly modern world and which
are defined as "the act of ignoring someone in a group environment while
attending to your phone" can be observed daily and more often every time. In
addition, is not the exclusive behavior of youngest people but it agrees to all
ages and genders.
The feeling is described as an uncontrollable impulse under the premise
that the persistence of such work would give some kind of credit or
recognition.
This leaves the other party in a position of the viewer, which can be
very unpleasant and quite uncomfortable.
With the arrival of cell phones, the first rule of courtesy broken was
to attending the device in the middle of a meeting. However, this attitude was
justifying under the excuse of "it's okay to do so, it may be an emergency."
With the advent of smartphones and social networks, all worsened.
Those causing the phubbing has
no specific age ranges, although, it is more common to see young starring in
some of these "outbursts". Any excuse will do today to look down and
enter the world of networks. From a small update profile, click on LIKE,
comment on Twitter or Facebook, to begin a chat in WhatsApps, ask for lives in
the Candy Crush, or take a picture and post it on Instagram. These people are,
also, able to "block" any interference from the outside world that can
get them out of their distraction. Others, however, fail to detach, which often
results in the appearance of a very grumpy and remarkable animosity. A growing
majority who depend on their mobiles wanders around as zombies, clumsy and incoherent, as isolated from the world around
them as they allow your headphones or staring at the screen of their phone.
Having the illusion that you can be in multiple places at the same time, go to creating
a "click-mania" fantasy that could be terrible, since it is not
possible to focus attention simultaneously on several points, which implies
that, to do this, something is neglecting.
Having a cell that we have derived an identification number that in very
few cases is private; then anyone has the possibility to contact us at any time
of the day, whether or not to our liking. Oddly enough, the phone is also a
medium that disseminates obscene and inadequate material and provides to unjustified
promote certain behaviors such as infidelity, lust, anger, pornography use and
countless destructive feelings.
Finally, it has been much talk about the cell phone encourages some
health problems such as cancer and other illness, due to a very close and
constant exposure to the radiation emitted by the apparatus itself, and these
claims have not been scientifically proven, at all, though, I might not to think
anyone will give it some credit, right?
The truth is traffic accidents due to using text messaging or when
holding a phone conversation while driving has increased in recent years.
According to US. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, drivers
who use their cell phones are 6 times more likely to be involved in a car
accident and cause approximately 8 percent of all crashes; that is, 636,000
accidents, 330,000 minor injuries, 12,000 serious injuries and 2,600 deaths
each year. It also says that there is no difference in the cognitive
distraction producing by cell than caused by ingestion of alcoholic beverages.
83 percent of crashes are linked to the lack of attention of the driver. Cause
no. 1 of lack of driver’s care; unbelievably ... is the cell phone! Research has shown that
using cell can lead to a serious cognitive distraction and reduce the
performance behind the wheel for more than double it reduces by alcohol.
We live in an individualistic society: there are fewer joint activities
within the family or social circle. In addition, formal education, thus elementary
in the acquisition and development of good manners as evoked in the days of our
parents and grandparents is going down the canyon. One might wonder whether the
technology that is growing will do it to the detriment of an inherent condition
of human beings: coexistence.
Current generation and those to come have their speak.
